BRIDGETOWN, Barbados – The Caribbean Examinations Council (CXC®) has engaged with regional governments and other key stakeholders from across the region on the conception and planning of the 2021 regional examinations and registers its appreciation for their enriching contributions.

New Ambassador of Portugal to CARICOM accredited

CARICOM Secretary-General Ambassador Irwin LaRocque accepted the Letter of Credence accrediting H.E. Carlos Nuno Almeida de Sousa Amaro as the new Ambassador of Portugal to CARICOM on Wednesday, 19 May 2021.

Your Excellency,

It is for me a great honour to be the third Portuguese Ambassador accredited to CARICOM and, as such, I reaffirm Portugal’s commitment to foster deeper relations with the Organization and its Member States.

Portugal has historical and cultural ties with the Caribbean. The communities of Portuguese descendants living in various Member States of CARICOM are a visible legacy of our bonds.

Statement by the Caribbean Community (CARICOM) on the Israel-Palestine Conflict

The Caribbean Community (CARICOM) is gravely concerned by the recent escalation in violence between the Israelis and the Palestinians.

CARICOM joins the international community in calling for an immediate ceasefire and end to hostilities.

CARICOM continues to support the United Nations’ efforts towards a two-state solution as the best way forward.

CARICOM remembers late Trinidad and Tobago Energy Minister

The Caribbean Community (CARICOM) has remembered the late Trinidad and Tobago Energy Minister Mr Franklyn Khan for his genuine interest in advancing the sector and the development of the Region.

CARICOM Secretary-General Ambassador Irwin LaRocque in a Message of Condolence to Trinidad and Tobago’s Prime Minister Dr Keith Rowley on the recent passing of Minister Khan, said his dedicated service to the people of his country and commitment to their welfare make him fully deserving of the tributes bestowed on him.

CARICOM accredits first Ambassador from the Republic of Azerbaijan

Early childhood educators access training in distance learning through CARICOM, UNESCO, UWI – Open Campus collaboration

Teachers and educators in early childhood education from across the Caribbean Community (CARICOM) are involved in a four-week training workshop to improve their capacity to deliver high quality distance learning experiences for young children.

The workshop commenced on Wednesday March 17, through a partnership among the United Nations Educational, Scientific and Cultural Organization (UNESCO), the CARICOM Secretariat and the Caribbean Child Development Centre (CCDC) of The University of the West Indies (UWI) Open Campus.

Tenth UK-Caribbean Forum_ Action Plan

At the conclusion of the 10th UK-Caribbean Forum, held virtually on 18 March 2021, the Foreign Ministers of the United Kingdom and Caribbean countries, welcoming the Communiqué signed at the Forum, also agreed on the following Action Plan for a two-year period up to 2023, when the next full Forum meeting is currently envisaged.
