INFORMATION minister Daryl Vaz says that iMap Jamaica, the Internet application that gives information on every single registered parcel of land in Jamaica, will help to transform business on the island.

iMap service is provided by the National Land Agency in partnership with Global Insurance Company. The service is targeted at the insurance industry, land surveyors, realtors, land developers and spatial data professionals.

Trinidad and Tobago and the Caribbean have been the centre of international attention since news broke that Trinidad’s technology guru, Bevil Wooding, was one of only seven persons from across the globe specially selected to hold keys to the internet.

These seven gatekeepers, called Trusted Community Representatives (TCRs), have each been given a card with part of a special code that can be used to generate a master Recovery Key which can, in effect, reboot the internet.

FINANCIAL INSTITUTIONS, particularly those aligned to the Jamaica Bankers' Association (JBA), have pooled human and financial resources in an all-out effort to smash an emerging debit-card scam that is threatening the security confidence of the electronic banking system in Jamaica.

For the first time since the promulgation of the Cybercrimes Act ..., the police ... reported that they cracked a major cybercrime ring, arresting and charging two men for breaching the far-reaching statute.

The Regional Information and Communication Technology (ICT) for Development Strategy is more appropriately named the Regional Digital Development Strategy (RDds)), to acknowledge the vision for the Region. The Report is presented in two parts_

Part 1_ which outlines the Proposed Draft Strategy, and

Part 2_ which gives the background and establishes the process for and the framework within the Regional Digital Development Strategy was developed.Â
