CARICOM Heads of Government met in Caucus Friday morning ahead of the ceremonial opening of the Summit and in a Statement called for the forging of a new spirit of cooperation, and a fresh approach to Cuba.

We, the Heads of Government of the Caribbean Community, have met in Port of Spain, Trinidad and Tobago on April 17th, 2009, in advance of the inauguration of the Fifth Summit of the Americas.
(CARICOM Secretariat, Turkeyen, Greater Georgetown, Guyana)Â Heads of Government of the Caribbean Community (CARICOM) will meet with a number of other Heads of State and Government on the margins of the Fifth Summit of the Americas which opens in Port of Spain, Trinidad and Tobago on Friday 17 April 2009.
The three-day Summit is being held under the theme `Securing Our Citizens’ Future by Promoting Human Prosperity, Energy Security and Environmental Sustainability’.
