(CARICOM Secretariat, Turkeyen, Greater Georgetown, Guyana) The Caribbean Community (CARICOM) Secretary-General, His Excellency, Edwin Carrington on Monday January 19, 2009 urged the newly recruited staff of CARICOM Secretariat to feel a sense of ā€œownershipā€ of the regional integration process as they embarked on their tenure at the CARICOM Headquarters, Georgetown, Guyana.

(CARICOM Secretariat, Turkeyen, Greater Georgetown, Guyana) Research findings conducted by the Caribbean Community (CARICOM) Commission on Youth Development (CCYD) have revealed that youth across the Caribbean Region were alarmingly concerned about what they described as serious disintegration of social institutions and values.

This, according to researcher, Terri-Ann Gilbert Roberts, had affected youth development negatively and consequently prompted a strong call for appropriate youth governance structures to address the problem.

(CARICOM Secretariat, Turkeyen, Greater Georgetown, Guyana) The Thirteenth Meeting of the Caribbean Community (CARICOM) Council For Finance and Planning (COFAP) will be convened in Bridgetown, Barbados on Thursday January 29, 2009 with the implications of the global financial crisis on the Region high on the agenda.

At his press briefing at the end of 2008, CARICOM Secretary-General, His Excellency Edwin Carrington had noted that the global financial crisis was ā€œa very serious oneā€ and that the Region was not going to escape its impact.

This Concept Paper has been commissioned by the CARICOM Secretariat to be presented at a Regional symposium to develop the ā€œElements of the Strategic Vision for Services Sector Development in the Caribbean Community (CARICOM)ā€. As a start the paper has to understand the level of need for efficient air transport services in the CARICOM Region (Region).
