PORT OF SPAIN, Trinidad - Farmers operating out of Norris Deonarine Wholesale Market in Macoya have complained that too much space is being inhabited by those selling produce from outside the country. Terrence Haywood, head of the National Foodcrop Farmers Association (NFFA), said yesterday goods bought on the open CARICOM market are flooding the Macoya facility and local farmers are now competing for limited space, as well as having to match the prices of the regional goods.

PORTT AU PRINCE, Haiti, CMC – Former president Jean Bertrand Aristide is due to appear in court later on Wednesday to answer questions from an investigative judge into the unresolved case of a murdered radio journalist.
Journalist Jean Dominique, once a close friend to Aristide, was gunned down along with his security guard in the courtyard of his radio station in April 2000.
Police have already warned they will not tolerate any street demonstration, as Aristide, a former Roman Catholic priest who was forced out of office in 2004, makes his way to the court building.
PORT-AU-PRINCE, Haiti - Haiti's top police officer said Tuesday that all street demonstrations are banned for Wednesday, when former President Jean-Bertrand Aristide heads to court for a rare public outing that is expected to draw thousands of his supporters.
National Police director Godson Aurelus said on Radio Vision 2000 that protests are prohibited because police will be busy providing security for Aristide as he travels by caravan from his home and back. Officers also will be present along the route to the courthouse in downtown Port-au-Prince.
