KINGSTOWNâThe shareholder governments of regional airline, LIAT, will meet in Barbados today, but a planned meeting in Bridgetown with T&Tâs Prime Minister Kamla Persad Bissessar will not materialise, Prime Minister Dr Ralph Gonsalves has said. He told a news conference his T&T counterpart was unable to attend the meeting because Parliament would be meeting on the same day.
Gonsalves, who serves as chairman of the shareholders, said the meeting with Persad-Bissessar would have dealt with ongoing concerns with the T&T-owned Caribbean Airlines (CAL).

GEORGETOWN, Guyana - Brazilâs ambassador to the World Trade Organisation (WTO), Roberto AzevĂȘdo, is to be approved by acclamation, as the Geneva-based organisationâs new director-general, at next Tuesdayâs meeting of its general council.
Dr AzevĂȘdo is only the WTOâs second leader from the developing world in its 18 years of existence.

BUENOS AIRES, Argentina (AP) â Venezuelan leader Nicolas Maduro and his Argentine counterpart and ally, Cristina Fernandez, announced new energy and food agreements yesterday, then Maduro cheered supporters of Argentina's president with a rousing speech at a football-stadium rally.
