(CARICOM Secretariat, Turkeyen, Greater Georgetown, Guyana) The Regional Agriculture Investment Forum will provide a platform for Caribbean and international parties with an interest in investing in the agriculture sector to seek business alliances with existing and potential agriculture entrepreneurs.

This was emphasised today by H. E Bharrat Jagdeo, President of Guyana and Lead CARICOM Head of Government on agriculture at the launching of the event in a ceremony at the CARICOM Secretariat in Guyana.

These include, Domestic Agriculture, Sustainable Tourism, Transport, Energy, and Information and Communication Technologies.

(CARICOM Secretariat, Turkeyen, Greater Georgetown, Guyana) Ministers of the Caribbean Community, meeting at the Twenty First Meeting of the Council for Trade and Economic Development (COTED) in Trinidad and Tobago on May 12-13, 2006, expressed serious concern about the stance being taken on agriculture by the European Commission (EC) in the current negotiations for an Economic Partnership Agreement (EPA).

It is produced jointly by the Caribbean Regional Negotiating Machinery (CRNM), which co-coordinates CARICOM’s external trade negotiations, the Inter-American Institute for Co-operation in Agriculture (IICA) which provides technical assistance to Caribbean countries and the Caribbean Agri-Business Association (CABA), the voice of the private agri-business sector.

(CARICOM Secretariat, Turkeyen, Greater Georgetown, Guyana)The Caribbean Community (CARICOM) and Mexico are to explore mechanisms for enhanced relations when the two sides meet at the headquarters of the CARICOM Secretariat in Georgetown, Guyana on 16-17 March, 2006 for the Fourth Meeting of the CARICOM-Mexico Joint Commission.

Among the issues earmarked for discussion by the Joint Commission are recent developments in CARICOM and Mexico, as well as collaboration in the areas of education and training, air and sea transportation, and energy.
