Online company registry among 12 Member States

The purpose of this project is to provide the Caribbean Community (CARICOM) Secretariat and its Member States with a functioning automated data management system for information exchange and networking among the national company registries and the CSME Unit regarding companies and other legal entities by:

a) completing the building of a secure regional database network among the company registries in Caricom’s 12 Member States and connected to a central repository at the CSME Unit in Barbados;

In setting the tone for CARICOM Heads of Government Summit which opened in Saint Lucia on Wednesday 3 July, CARICOM Secretary-General Ambassador Irwin LaRocque said that CARICOM’s integration journey is recognised as the standard bearer by other developing countries seeking to build their own regional integration arrangements.

CONCEPT PAPER ON A STRATEGIC PLAN ON TOURISM SERVICES IN THE CARICOM SINGLE MARKET AND ECONOMY (CSME)

In the short-term, travel and tourism is expect ed to continue to be negatively affected by the downturn in global economies, increasing unemployment, reduced disposable incomes and reduced demand for leisure a nd business travel. However, UNWTO has made the observation that “past experience has shown that travel and tourism always rebounds from cyclical downturns - sometimes even stronger than before”. Indeed, the6.5% average annual growth rate in international arrivals over the period 1950 to 2005 is evidence of the sector’s resilience and robustness over the long-term.

Our central theme in these Distinguished Lectures: “Towards the Further Enhancement of Caribbean Civilisation”

Although this is the Sevent h in the Series, it is the first being delivered outside our immediate borders. Although I am in Brooklyn, I know of no West Indian who would not here feel truly at home.
