Sport is an activity that is governed by a set of rules which can be engaged in competitively. It also refers to activities where the physical capabilities of the competitor either makes them win or lose.

For the purpose of this paper sport may be referred to a process where physical education takes place and the end result is evidenced by effectively run programmes in schools at all levels – primary, secondary and even at the tertiary level. Further to that the region would have recorded successes in various areas of sport.

  (CARICOM Secretariat, Turkeyen, Greater Georgetown, Guyana) The Caribbean Community (CARICOM) has stepped up its meetings as it continues its negotiations process in the run up to the 15th Meeting of the Conference of Parties (COP15) to the United Nations Framework Convention on Climate Change (UNFCCC) set for December 7-18 in Copenhagen, Denmark.

The series of meetings forms part of the Community’s strategy to highlight its priorities and position itself to ensure that the Region’s issues are fully addressed at Copenhagen.

(CARICOM Secretariat, Turkeyen, Greater Georgetown, Guyana) Negotiations for a Trade and Development Agreement between the Caribbean Community (CARICOM) and Canada are set to begin in early November. This was decided at a preparatory meeting between Ministers of both parties held on Friday in Port of Spain, Trinidad and Tobago.

It is really for me a great pleasure that I stand here this afternoon at Ogle International Airport. Those last three words have resonated with me for a long time and finally being able to say them is almost like music to my ears.

The circle is almost complete from my vision expressed in 2003 which included the Secretariat Headquarters, a Conference Centre, the University of Guyana and the International Airport. The two other elements will surely not be too long in coming – a five star hotel and a shopping centre.

On Wednesday, September 9, 2009, the headquarters of the CARICOM Secretariat, Georgetown, Guyana, hosted a demonstration Health Foods; Health Cooking, conducted by the Carnegie School of Home Economics.

(CARICOM Secretariat, Turkeyen, Greater Georgetown, Guyana) Guyana came in for high praise from His Excellency Edwin Carrington, Caribbean Community (CARICOM) on Wednesday September 9, 2009 on the occasion of the certification of its domestic aerodrome as an international airport.

The Ogle Airport, located within proximity of the headquarters of the CARICOM Secretariat, Georgetown, Guyana was certified, yesterday, as international airport - a project which began in 2003.

(CARICOM Secretariat, Turkeyen, Greater Georgetown, Guyana) Heads of Government of ten of the sixteen members of the Caribbean Forum of African Caribbean and Pacific States (CARIFORUM) will attend the Third Special Meeting of CARIFORUM Heads of Government, at the Sherbourne Conference Centre in Bridgetown, Barbados, on Wednesday 10 September, 2008.

CARIFORUM comprises the 14 independent states of CARICOM, the Dominican Republic and Cuba.
