(CARICOM Secretariat, Turkeyen, Greater Georgetown, Guyana) The Caribbean Community Secretariat is organising a series of youth workshops, using the Visual and Performing Arts as a means of empowering young people in the fight against HIV and AIDS.

The ultimate objective of this series of workshops is to engage and involve youth across the Region in developing a sustainable regional response to HIV and AIDS as well as other social problems related to HIV and AIDS.

(CARICOM Secretariat, Turkeyen, Greater Georgetown, Guyana) Caribbean Community (CARICOM) Secretary General His Excellency Edwin Carrington has extended heartfelt condolences on the death of Antigua and Barbuda Representative in the Upper House of Parliament, Senator the Honourable Francis Nunes Jr.

In his Message of Condolence, the Secretary General remembered Senator Nunes as a pioneer in the area of energy conservation and recognied his tireless work in the private sector.

CHRIST CHURCH, BARBADOS – As the Caribbean seeks to diversify its services exports, a clear area of comparative advantage is the culture and entertainment sector. In striving to promote Caribbean interests in this sector in external negotiations the CRNM realized that it was first necessary to get a more precise overview of the cultural industries. Based on consultations with industry stakeholders in 2004, the CRNM commissioned a comprehensive study to provide background on the cultural industries in CARICOM and their position in the global market.

This expression was conveyed by the Deputy Secretary-General of CARICOM, Her Excellency Ambassador Lolita Applewhaite during the First Meeting of the CARICOM-Republic of Korea Consultation and Cooperation Mechanism at the Headquarters of CARICOM Secretariat in Georgetown, Guyana on 18 January 2007.
