The nine Caribbean Community (CARICOM) countries that will host matches for Cricket World Cup (CWC) 2007 are on track to achieve security goals in time for the March 2007 start of the world’s third largest sporting event.

Good morning and thank you for being here today. Our delegation is pleased to be with the people of Saint Lucia and to serve as observes in the December 11th General Elections.

Our presence on the island is at the invitation of the Prime Minister of Saint Lucia; our mandate comes from CARICOM Heads of State and Government who instructed that an observer mission be present for these elections.

(CARICOM Secretariat, Turkeyen, Greater Georgetown, Guyana) A six member team from the Caribbean Community (CARICOM) will travel to Haiti on Saturday 4th February, to observe the first round of next Tuesday’s presidential and legislative elections.

The team will be headed by Jamaica’s former Director of Elections, Mr. Noel Lee, and will include observers from other Member States.
