The Organisation of Amercan States (OAS) Secretariat through the Caribbean Sustainable Energy Program (CSEP) and the Energy Efficiency Working Group of the Energy and Climate Partnership of the Americas (ECPA), hosted a workshop on energy efficiency designs for office and public buildings in tropical climates. The event took place at the Bay Gardens Inn in Rodney Bay from February 28th through March 1st, 2013. The CARICOM Secretariat is a Partner of the CSEP Project.
The overall objectives of the Workshop were to garner feedback and finalize the Study being done to establish Regional sustainable energy targets, as well as, to build awareness about the process going forward to fully establish the C-SERMS. Approximately Sixty persons were in attendance including Senior Energy Officials, members of the diplomatic corps, representatives from the public and private sectors of CARICOM Member States, regional Universities and technical experts.
The Governments of the Republic of Trinidad and Tobago and the Cooperative Republic of Guyana on 1 March 2013 signed a Memorandum of Understanding between both countries that seeks to promote greater cooperation in energy and energy related matters over the next two years.
Under the MoU, both parties will meet annually (or sooner, as mutually agreed) to review the status of the cooperation executed under the MOU, which includes support for the following areas_
A workshop highlighting the main achievements of the Austrian Development Agency’s (ADA) support and to mark the end of the ADA Project component was held in the Dominican Republic on 5 March 2013 at the Office of the National Energy Commission (CNE).
A launch of the interest clusters on technology deployment roadmaps for islands and power grid integration on islands under the Global Renewable Energy Islands Network (GREIN) initiative, established at the Third Assembly of the International Renewable Energy Agency (IRENA) was held in Auckland, New Zealand on 24 March 2013.
​(CARICOM Secretariat, Turkeyen, Greater Georgetown, Guyana) Trinidad and Tobago will be the venue this week for two Caribbean Community (CARICOM) Ministerial Council meetings.
The Council for Foreign and Community Relations (COFCOR) will meet on Tuesday 14th and Wednesday 15th while the Community Council will meet on Thursday 16th. Both meetings will be at the Trinidad Hilton Hotel and Conference Centre in Port of Spain.
​There are five institutions established to facilitate implementation of the Agreement. They are as follows_
   - The Joint CARIFORUM-EU Council
   - The CARIFORUM-EU Trade and Development Committee
   - The Special Committee on Customs Cooperation and Trade Facilitation
   - The CARIFORUM-EU Parliamentary Committee
   - The CARIFORUM-EU Consultative Committee
