As the world grapples with the challenge of controlling the COVID-19 pandemic, the Caribbean Community (CARICOM) is deeply concerned at the current prospect of inequitable access to vaccines to address the pandemic, especially for frontline workers and vulnerable populations.
The reality is that small states will find it difficult to compete in the market place to ensure equitable access for vaccines.
Each year, December 1 is observed as World AIDS Day. The theme for this year is “Global Solidarity, Shared Responsibility”.
On this day, we take time to reflect upon the global response to the HIV and AIDS epidemic by remembering the lives lost over the past four decades. We celebrate our achievements over the past years, and pledge to work in even more inclusive and innovative ways over the coming year to end the AIDS epidemic that is still a public health threat.
