Grenadian voters had trekked to polling stations aware that, according to forecasts by credible pollsters, the incumbent National Democratic Congress (NDC) of Prime Minister Tillman Thomas was facing defeat by former prime minister Keith Mitchell's New National Party (NNP).

BRIDGETOWN, Barbados, CMC – Opposition Leader Owen Arthur wants his detractors to look at the policies of his Barbados Labour Party (BLP) ahead of Thursday’s general election rather than focus their attention on his health.
Arthur, who turns 64 on October 17, is seeking to regain the government that he lost when the BLP was trounced 2010 by the Democratic Labour Party (DLP).
Now as he campaigns for that poll, he is wishing that people would stop making his health an issue.

SAN JUAN—The number of people traveling to the Caribbean is bouncing back to pre-recession levels, with visitors from Canada and the US giving a boost to a region struggling to recover from a global economic crisis, a top tourism official said. And the Ministry of Health views the situation so seriously that it has issued a bulletin to doctors, reminding them to report any suspected cases of the disease. In the bulletin, the ministry revealed that six people were admitted to the Queen Elizabeth Hospital during the first four weeks of this year with dengue fever or dengue haemorrhagic fever. This is double the number of hospitalizations for the same period last year.
