That previous occasion was the launch of the Task Force here at the Secretariat when we were embarking on a new and challenging assignment with a great deal of optimism_ to prepare a Regional Development Strategy and Action Plan for the Cultural Industries in CARICOM.

I hope that will you find some time outside of this forum to experience the warmth and hospitality of Guyana, which is rooted in the rich cultural heritage and diversity of our people.

The COHSOD has always been and continues to be a critical vehicle for examining and assessing the development of our human resources within the Region. It continues to provide dynamic leadership for national and regional development by ensuring that effective policies in human and social development are formulated and implemented.
