I am very pleased to be here this morning to participate in the opening session of this meeting of Experts of the Caribbean Sub-Region on Violence against Women, and I wish to thank the organizers for giving me the opportunity to make a few brief remarks on this occasion.

Ladies and Gentlemen.
We have taken 21 years to return to where we began. When we started we were anxious but ever fearless. However cautious we were of success, we never once doubted our quest_ the importance and permanence of the OECS.
Technological developments and the policies underpinning the current phase of the globalisation process are leading to a widening of several development gaps between the industrially advanced and poorer countries, in particular small countries. |
