(CARICOM Secretariat, Turkeyen, Greater Georgetown, Guyana) Chief Medical Officers within the Caribbean Community (CARICOM) and representatives of regional institutions will meet on Friday 22 January at the headquarters of the Caribbean Disaster Emergency management Agency (CDEMA) in Bridgetown, Barbados to conclude a draft plan for the Community’s continued Health Intervention in Haiti after the devastating earthquake of 12 January.

Washington, September 14, 2007 (PAHO) – A major new campaign to fight chronic disease in the Caribbean is getting underway in an effort to stem “the worst epidemic of chronic diseases like heart disease, stroke, cancer, diabetes and chronic respiratory disease in the Americas,” with the participation of heads of government.

This was the view of more than 150 delegates representing member countries and organisations of PANCAP attending a Caribbean Gathering held as one of the side events at the 16th International HIV/AIDS Conference in Toronto.
(CARICOM Secretariat, Turkeyen, Greater Georgetown, Guyana) A Special Meeting of the CARICOM Council for Human and Social Development (COHSOD) held in Port of Spain, Trinidad and Tobago on 9-10 June 2006 agreed on a framework of action for a more positive role of the national and regional educational sectors in HIV and AIDS response.
(CARICOM Secretariat, Turkeyen, Greater Georgetown, Guyana) Human Rights and HIV/AIDS advocates from across the Caribbean will meet in Kingston, Jamaica on 25 to 26 May 2006 at a workshop to develop strategies for rights based responses to HIV/AIDS epidemic in the Caribbean. The workshop is convened by the Pan Caribbean Partnership Against HIV/AIDS (PANCAP) Law, Ethics and Human Rights project in collaboration with the Canadian International Development Agency (CIDA), as part of its Enhanced Support to HIV/AIDS in the Caribbean (ESAC) programme.
(CARICOM Secretariat, Turkeyen, Greater Georgetown, Guyana) The quality of life for an estimated five hundred and fifty persons living with HIV/AIDS in the six OECS Member States of the Caribbean Community (CARICOM) is expected to improve with the introduction of a comprehensive programme for care, treatment and support funded by the Government of Brazil.
The Pan-Caribbean Partnership against HIV/AIDS (PANCAP), convened its first meeting with the Donor Community on Monday 13 February 2006, at the Knutsford Court Hotel, Kingston, Jamaica. The meeting focused on Improving Harmonisation of HIV/AIDS programme activity with particular emphasis on more standardised funding and reporting arrangements.
The engagement between PANCAP and the Donor Community carried several objectives.
(CARICOM Secretariat, Turkeyen, Greater Georgetown, Guyana) A group of Caribbean Community (CARICOM) Youth Ambassadors (CYA)are presently in Guyana working with their peers from across the Region to develop strategies to fight against HIV/AIDS. This they are doing while at the same time observing Guyana’s biodiversity, by journeying to the central part of the country for a three-day visit to the one million acreage Iwokrama Rainforest Conservation and Development reserve.
(CARICOM Secretariat, Georgetown, Guyana)Approximately 100 leaders from Faith-based Organisations (FBOs) across the Caribbean Community (CARICOM) committed themselves to cooperate with and actively support governmental, non-governmental and other agencies, and people living with HIV/AIDS in an effort to prevent the spread of HIV/AIDS and to provide care, support and treatment to people infected with and affected by the disease.
