The Organisation of Amercan States (OAS) Secretariat through the Caribbean Sustainable Energy Program (CSEP) and the Energy Efficiency Working Group of the Energy and Climate Partnership of the Americas (ECPA), hosted a workshop on energy efficiency designs for office and public buildings in tropical climates. The event took place at the Bay Gardens Inn in Rodney Bay from February 28th through March 1st, 2013. The CARICOM Secretariat is a Partner of the CSEP Project.

The Caribbean Renewable Energy Development Programme represents one of two areas of activity in the field of energy currently being undertaken by the CARICOM Secretariat. The other area is the formulation of a regional energy policy by a Task Force on Regional Energy Policy, which was established in 2003 in Port of Spain by the 14th Inter-sessional Meeting of the Conference of Heads of Government of CARICOM.

The road towards the implementation of the Caribbean Renewable Energy Development Project (CREDP) will be clearly mapped out during the first workshop for the implementation of the project.
The workshop takes place in Guyana on 17-19 May 2004, with participation from the intended beneficiary countries, the funding agencies and the Caribbean Community (CARICOM) Secretariat.
The CARICOM Region should look to breathing much cleaner air and accessing cheaper electricity over the next few years with the execution of the Caribbean Renewable Energy Development Programme (CREDP).
A Global Environmental Facility (GEF) grant of US$3.726 million made available through the United Nations Development Program (UNDP) is the most recent addition to the international financial assistance already secured for the Programme.
The first major round of deliberations by the Caribbean Community (CARICOM) organs will kick-off in Georgetown, Guyana later this week with the Fourteenth Meeting of the Council for Trade and Economic Development (COTED), 31 January-1February 2003. The focus will be on regional trade and economic development. Issues pertaining to Energy are expected to feature prominently with attention being paid to the Caribbean Renewable Energy Development Programme (CREDP). Â
