An ambitious project to harmonise the customs laws of the entire CARICOM region was launched in the early part of the 21st century spearheaded by the CARICOM Secretariat. Technical assistance to support the drafting and finalisation of the Harmonised Customs Bill was provided by the the Caribbean Regional Technical Assistance Centre (CARTAC) as part of their mandate to provide technical assistance to revenue collection organizations in CARICOM Member States.

(CARICOM Secretariat, Turkeyen, Greater Georgetown, Guyana) CARIFORUM Officials will meet with their European Union counterparts in Santo Domingo, Dominican Republic on December 8, to convene the First Meeting of the Special Committee on Customs Cooperation and Trade Facilitation under the CARIFORUM-EU Economic Partnership Agreement (EPA).
This Special Committee Meeting will be preceded by a CARIFORUM Preparatory Meeting on December 7.
CARICOM Customs officials will participate in a Customs Valuation Workshop to upgrade their skills in data collection for different valuation methods from 13-17 September, in Antigua and Barbuda.
The Workshop is part of the World Trade Organisation (WTO) Commitment to CARICOM Member States to meet their WTO obligations and is aimed mainly at enhancing the trade positions of CARICOM countries in the global trade arena.
