CHRIST CHURCH, BARBADOS – As part of efforts to strengthen the participation of and dialogue with regional civil society stakeholders as regards CARIFORUM-European Union (EU) Economic Partnership Agreement (EPA) negotiations, a Caribbean Non-State Actors (NSA) Network was launched in Barbados, November 13. The Civil Society Forward Together Conference, a historic consultation between the representatives of Civil Society in the 15 Member States of the Caribbean Community and the Heads of Government held at the Ocean View Hotel, Liliendaal, Guyana on 2-3 July 2002_

RECOGNISED the increased challenges to the Caribbean Community, posed by globalisation and the resulting complex economic, trade, environmental, social and legal issues.

I bring you greetings on behalf of the Secretary-General and staff of the Caribbean Community Secretariat. This is indeed an important event for Belize and for the Region as a whole as the Consultation today is part of a process leading up to a discussion at a regional dialogue between Civil Society and the Heads of Government of the Caribbean Community (CARICOM) in the Forward Together Conference to be held in Barbados 13 - 14 November 2001.
