Trinidad and Tobago asks regional catastrophe facility for financial help

The Ministry of Finance has requested the Caribbean Catastrophe Risk Insurance Facility (CCRIF) to urgently disburse funds under our catastrophe insurance policy.

This was confirmed via a tweet by Finance Minister Colm Imbert. Imbert said in the tweet that the CCRIF usually deals only with hurricane relief, but that two years ago, the Ministry of Finance paid for additional coverage for damage from excessive rainfall.

Prime Minister Rowley and President Granger Sign Energy MOU

(Office of the Prime Minister of Trinidad and Tobago) Prime Minister Dr the Honourable Keith Rowley and President of the Cooperative Republic of Guyana His Excellency Brigadier David Granger signed a Memorandum of Understanding on Energy Sector Cooperation today Wednesday 19 September, 2018 (at State House, Georgetown, Guyana).

Prime Minister Rowley said today represents a documentation of his country’s commitment to do more in its neighbourly relations with Guyana with respect to the generation of economic activity. 

CARICOM Secretariat and TnT Ministers hold talks

CARICOM Secretary-General Ambassador Irwin LaRocque and a team from the CARICOM Secretariat met on Wednesday with Trinidad and Tobago’s Energy Minister Mr. Franklin Khan and Planning and Development Minister Ms. Camille Robinson-Regis.

The Ministers were part of Prime Minister Dr Keith Rowley’s delegation to Guyana for talks with President David Granger.

CARICOM Kicks Off LMIS Training in Trinidad and Tobago

The region is set to benefit from a major effort by the Caribbean Community (CARICOM) Secretariat to establish a labour market information system (LMIS) as a vital element of the smooth functioning of the CARICOM Single Market and Economy (CSME). As part of this effort, the Secretariat is undertaking a series of LMIS training workshops in Member States. The first one gets underway in Trinidad and Tobago from Monday, October 3 and lasts 4 days at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs. The aim of these sessions is to train stakeholders how to use LMIS in the development of policy and planning.

Discussions between Jamaica and T&T to strengthen bonds – PM Holness

Bilateral discussions between Jamaica and the Republic of Trinidad and Tobago are expected to result in robust initiatives that will lead to increased co-operation, and the promotion of improved trade relations.

This is the sentiment expressed by Prime Minister, the Most Hon. Andrew Holness, who is hosting his Trinidadian counterpart, Dr. the Hon. Keith Rowley, on an official four-day visit.

Jamaica Welcomes Trinidad and Tobagos Prime Minister

Prime Minister of the Republic of Trinidad and Tobago, Dr. the Hon. Keith Rowley, and Mrs. Sharon Rowley, arrived in Jamaica today (July 17) for a four-day official visit.

They were met at the Norman Manley International Airport in Kingston by a welcoming party led by Prime Minister the Most Hon. Andrew Holness, and Foreign Affairs and Foreign Trade Minister, Senator Hon. Kamina Johnson Smith.
