History will be made on 7September 2021, when the inaugural CARICOM-Africa Summit is held.

Kenya will host the virtual event under the theme ‘Unity Across Continents and Oceans_ Opportunities for Deepening Integration’. His Excellency Uhuru Kenyatta, President of Kenya, will chair the Summit.

Plans for Kenya to host a CARICOM and Africa Summit in 2020 had to be put on hold because of the COVID-19 pandemic. The Summit follows on the Declaration by the African Union of the Diaspora as the sixth region of Africa.

CARICOM Deputy Secretary-General Ambassador Manorma Soeknandan demitted office on August 31 after seven years of service.

Among her achievements during her tenure, the Surinamese diplomat championed the greening of the Secretariat’s Headquarters building highlighted by the on-going installation of solar power and oversaw the introduction of the CARICOM Results Based Management System which is now employed across the Community for a more focussed approach towards achieving its goals.

The Caribbean Community (CARIOCM), with financial assistance from 11th European Development Fund (EDF), intends to award a service contract for a Business Impact Analysis (BIA) for the Caribbean Institute of Translation and Interpretation (CRITI).The overall objective of the project, of which this contract will be a part is to support informed decision making by the CARIFORUM Council of Ministers on the future of CRITI.
