​CARICOM citizens, ladies and gentlemen, I am indeed happy to welcome all of you to our spice isle on this occasion; our 22nd inter-sessional meeting. The people of Grenada join with me in extending our characteristic spice isle hospitality that some of you have been accustomed to. We do hope that you enjoy and savor the Grenadian experience.

(CARICOM Secretariat, Turkeyen, Greater Georgetown, Guyana) The Joint Organisation of American States-CARICOM Electoral Observation Mission (JEOM) has said that the peaceful acceptance of the final results of the 28 November elections in Haiti was illustrative of “democracy at work” in the French Speaking CARICOM Member State.

The Caribbean Community welcomes the announcement by the Provisional Electoral Council (CEP) of Haiti of the official results of the first round of the presidential and legislative elections in that Member State. In congratulating the candidates who will contest the presidential and legislative run-offs, the Community also commends all those who participated in the elections for their commitment to the strengthening and continuation of democratic principles in this Member State of the Caribbean Community.

(CARICOM Secretariat, Turkeyen, Greater Georgetown, Guyana) A two day Seminar for the Haitian private sector on the management of CARICOM trade is due to begin on Wednesday 2nd February at the Karibe Hotel, Port-au-Prince, Haiti. The Seminar is being organized by the CARICOM Representation Office in Haiti and the Bureau de Coordination et de Suivi des Accords de la CARICOM, de l’OMC et de la ZLEA, of the Government of Haiti.
