Press Releases
The Caribbean Community salutes you on winning the 100 metres event at the World Track and Field Championships in Paris, France - the greatest achievement of your career so far.
Your success has shown the world that a country’s size has no bearing on the potential and quality of its citizens. It is a shining example of what our Region can achieve with dedication, hard work and focus. You have made your country, St Kitts and Nevis, and our entire Caribbean Community proud.
As Secretary-General of the Caribbean Community, I extend heartiest congratulations to you.
As Secretary-General of the Caribbean Community, I wish to extend to the Government and People of St Kitts and Nevis hearty congratulations on the success of one of its great sons, Mr. Kim Collins in winning the 100 metres event at the World Track and Field Championships in Paris, France.
It is with great pride that the Caribbean Community has greeted the news of your success in winning the silver medal at the World Track and Field Championships.
You have demonstrated to your peers that they can be the best in the world in whatever field they choose.
As Secretary-General of the Caribbean Community, I congratulate you on the achievement of the Youth World Record and your second place in the premier event of the World Track and Field Championships.

Salutations:
The juncture of the celebration of CARIFESTA VIII here in Suriname, and the 30th Anniversary year of the Caribbean Community, is an ideal time for the CARICOM Secretariat and our private sector partner, TELESUR to join resources in exploring the rich potential of mind, technology and the impact on art and culture in the Caribbean. Certainly, there is no better time and no more suitable place for this event to be taking place.Â
Mr. Chairman, Dr. Clarence Henry
Prime Minister, Hon. Lester Bird
Hon. Gaston Browne, Minister of Planning, Trade, Industry, Commerce and Public Service Affairs

Ladies and Gentlemen
SALUTATIONS!
I am proud today as Secretary-General of the Caribbean Community to welcome you all to CARIFESTA VIII in Suriname. This pride is heightened by the fact that this is the first time since my assumption of office in 1992 that this major Community event is being held in a non-English speaking country. Indeed it is only the second time in its 31-year history that CARIFESTA is being staged outside the English speaking Caribbean, having been held in Cuba in 1979.
Your Excellency Ambassador Elisabeth Harper |
