  (CARICOM Secretariat, Turkeyen, Greater Georgetown, Guyana) The observance of Caribbean Wellness Day 2009 came up for high plaudits by Caribbean Community (CARICOM) Ministers of Health at their meeting in Washington, USA on the week-end.

The Meeting of the 18th Caucus of Ministers of Health said they were “thrilled at the positive report, particularly from Trinidad and Tobago, on the second celebration of Caribbean Wellness Day,” on 12 September 2009.

(CARICOM Secretariat, Turkeyen, Greater Georgetown, Guyana) Member States of the Caribbean Community (CARICOM) will be in Mexico for the 5th Meeting of the CARICOM-Mexico Joint Commission which takes place on 1st October 2009 in Mexico City.

The one-day meeting will be followed by a Business Promotion Forum on 2nd October. The business forum will bring together representatives of private sector from CARICOM Member States and Mexico.

(CARICOM Secretariat, Turkeyen, Greater Georgetown, Guyana) The implementation of the Caribbean Regional Strategic Framework (CRSF) on HIV and AIDS (2008 -2012) along with the development of the Priority Area Co-ordinating Committee (PACC) and the proposed constitution for the Pan Caribbean Partnership Against HIV and AIDS (PANCAP) were some of the major discussions which took place at the just concluded 13th Meeting of the Regional Co-ordinating Mechanism of PANCAP. The meeting took place from September 17 – 18, 2009 at the CARICOM Secretariat in Guyana.

The Caribbean Community (CARICOM) views with continuing grave concern the situation in Honduras arising from the removal by military intervention of the democratically elected Head of State, President Manuel Zelaya.

The Caribbean Community notes the recent return to Honduras of President Zelaya and his presence in the Embassy of Brazil. The Community wishes to underline the critical importance of respecting the inviolability of diplomatic premises and of the persons therein.

Foreign Ministers will convene the Twelfth informal consultations of the Council for Foreign and Community Relations (COFCOR) on Friday 25 September 2009 with a packed agenda of critical issues.
