The Organisation of Amercan States (OAS) Secretariat through the Caribbean Sustainable Energy Program (CSEP) and the Energy Efficiency Working Group of the Energy and Climate Partnership of the Americas (ECPA), hosted a workshop on energy efficiency designs for office and public buildings in tropical climates. The event took place at the Bay Gardens Inn in Rodney Bay from February 28th through March 1st, 2013. The CARICOM Secretariat is a Partner of the CSEP Project.

ROSEAU, Dominica, CMC - Health Minister Julius Timothy, 61, has returned to Dominica less than a week after he was flown to the neighbouring French island of Martinique for medical treatment.
The state-owned DBS radio confirmed Timothy’s return, but gave no details about his ailment.
Last week, Prime Minister Roosevelt Skerrit said Timothy, who had collapsed at his office, had complained of numbness in certain parts of his body and had urged nationals to pray for his recovery.

ROSEAU, Dominica, CMC – Prime Minister Roosvelt Skerrit has confirmed that his Health Minister Julius Timothy had been flown to the French island of Martinique for medical treatment after he collapsed at his office on Wednesday. “Last night he complained about numbness in certain parts of his body,” Skerrit said on state-owned DBS radio, adding that “in due course a medical update on his progress will be given and we ask all Dominicans to pray for his well being”.

ROSEAU, Dominica, CMC – As several Caribbean countries prepare to celebrate MAYDAY, the traditional day of workers on Wednesday, a Dominican trade unionist is lamenting the failure to establish a Trade Union Congress (TUC) in the country.
Head of the Public Service Association (PSA), Thomas Letang, speaking on the state-owned DBS radio Tuesday, said while “a lot of work” had been done on a draft constitution several years ago, a TUC has not materialised.

ROSEAU, Dominica, CMC – The 27th annual congress of the Caribbean Association of Insurance and Financial Advisors (CARAIFA) began here on Monday with Prime Minister Roosevelt Skerrit urging regional financial advisors to develop a health insurance scheme for the Caribbean. Skerrit told the more than 130 delegates from 13 Caribbean countries that the cost of medical services in the region had become very prohibitive to many families. He said people with health insurances were also expressing difficulties.
