(CARICOM Secretariat, Georgetown, Guyana) The CARICOM Electoral Observer Mission was mounted in response to an invitation by the Government of St Vincent and the Grenadines to send an Observer Team to monitor the conduct of the General Elections to be held on Wednesday, 07 December 2005.

(CARICOM Secretariat, Turkeyen, Greater Georgetown, Guyana)The Caribbean Community (CARICOM) has been invited by the Government of St Vincent and the Grenadines to monitor the preparations for the General Elections and to observe the conduct of the Elections on 7 December 2005.

The Observer Mission which was appointed by CARICOM Secretary-General Mr. Edwin Carrington will be led by His Excellency Philip Smith, High Commissioner of The Bahamas to Canada. The other members of the Mission include Mr. Eugene G.

The CARICOM Electoral Observer Mission was mounted in accordance with the provisions of the Grand Beach Accord and the commitment given to the Government of St. Vincent and the Grenadines by the Conference of Heads of Government of the Caribbean Community.

The main tasks of the Observer Mission was to observe the preparations for the Elections and the electoral process, including the counting of the ballots, and to assess the outcome of the elections.
