The Conference of Heads of Government of the Caribbean Community (CARICOM) held its Thirteenth Special Meeting in Port-of-Spain, Trinidad and Tobago, on 4-5 April 2008.

Crime and Security was the focus of the Meeting as agreed at the Nineteenth Inter-Sessional Meeting in Nassau, The Bahamas. The thrust of the Meeting was to ‘fully ventilate the crime and security issues facing the Region and to agree on a Strategy and Plan of Action to stem the rising tide of violent criminality’.

(CARICOM Secretariat, Turkeyen, Greater Georgetown, Guyana) The Caribbean Community (CARICOM) in preparation for its second regional school quiz to mark the 35th Anniversary of the signing of the Treaty of Chaguaramas will conduct a one-day workshop for quiz masters in Basseterre, St Kitts on 3 April, 2008.

The aim of the workshop is to build the capacity of quiz masters to conduct competitions in CARICOM Member States and Associate Members.

(CARICOM Secretariat, Turkeyen, Greater Georgetown, Guyana) Chile's new Ambassador to the Caribbean Community (CARICOM) yesterday underscored his country’s interest in developing closer ties with the Community in trade, poverty alleviation and coastal border administration.

His Excellency José Gabriel Zepeda presented his credentials to CARICOM Secretary-General His Excellency Edwin Carrington on Wednesday August 20, 2008 at the headquarters of the CARICOM Secretariat in Georgetown, Guyana.
