(CARICOM Secretariat, Turkeyen, Greater Georgetown, Guyana) The Caribbean Community (CARICOM) will seek the support of countries such as Italy to sensitise other members of the European Community on the challenges that small countries face in adjusting to new reciprocal arrangements under the Economic Partnership Agreement (EPA), CARICOM Secretary-General H.E. (CARICOM Secretariat, Georgetown, Guyana_) The Caribbean Community Secretariat will convene the First Meeting of Experts and Stakeholders concerning the Development of Harmonised Legislation for the Reform of the Electric Sector from 13–15 February 2008 at the Fort Young Hotel, Roseau, Dominica.

The meeting, sponsored by the UNDP/GEF Caribbean Renewable Energy Development Programme (CREDP), is the first of two, to facilitate stakeholder consultation towards building regional consensus on draft model legislation in different national jurisdictions of the Community.

(CARICOM Secretariat, Turkeyen, Greater Georgetown, Guyana) The Caribbean Community (CARICOM) has reaffirmed the June 2007 request by CARICOM Heads of Government to the President of the United States of America, to extend the Caribbean Basin Trade Partnership Act (CBTPA) to all Member States of the Community and to make permanent the preferences available under the Act.
