The informal meeting of EU Development Ministers and the Informal ACP-EU Dialogue took place on 12-13 March 2007 in Petersberg near Bonn. (CARICOM Secretariat, Turkeyen, Greater Georgetown, Guyana) Secretary General of the Caribbean Community (CARICOM), His Excellency Edwin Carrington is reminding all Member States that Sunday, 25 March 2007 marks the 200th year since the Proclamation of the Abolition of the Trans-Atlantic Slave Trade, and urges them to implement programmes of activities to commemorate this event on Sunday, or during the week beginning 25 March 2007.
The need for ongoing dialogue and multi-stakeholder participation is critical as the region engages in what is now the final stage of the EPA negotiations. The CRNM has already established a number of successful communications outreach initiatives designed to capture the input of the business interests of the Regional private sector through education and training. However, accommodating the conduct of consultations with all Regional civil society constituents is challenged by limitations in the availability of resources.
The structure and scope of the work of the newly-installed CARICOM Commission on Youth Development in relation to its mandate came under focus at the Commissionβs first Plenary Session, at the Hotel Krasnapolsky in Suriname, on Tuesday March 6.
