It is with distinct pleasure that I welcome you most warmly, Ambassador, to the Headquarters of the Caribbean Community. Here you will find among our staff what can almost be termed a microcosm of the fifteen-member CARICOM regional organisation.

(CARICOM Secretariat, Turkeyen, Greater Georgetown, Guyana) Representatives of the private sector in Guyana will be updated on the status of work in a number of areas on the CARICOM Single Market and Economy (CSME) during a consultation convened by the CARICOM Secretariat with support from the Guyana Manufacturers Association (GMA).
(CARICOM Secretariat, Turkeyen, Greater Georgetown, Guyana) The Small and Medium Enterprises (SMEs) Sector is vital to the economic and social development of the Region, given its contribution to the creation of employment particularly for the Region’s youth.
(CARICOM Secretariat, Turkeyen, Greater Georgetown, Guyana) CARICOM Ministers of Education and Labour have agreed that the University of the West Indies (UWI) should conduct an in-depth study to research the impact of the continued migration of teachers, doctors and nurses, both intra and extra-regionally.
The agreement was reached during talks among the Ministers and Officials who met 19-21 October in Georgetown, Guyana, for the Fifteenth Meeting of the Council for Human and Social Development (COHSOD), which had a special focus on education and labour.

“The commitment of CARICOM to Haiti runs deep.” This assurance was given to Haitian President His Excellency Rene Preval, the Government and people of Haiti by the Chairman of the Conference of Heads of Government of the Caribbean Community (CARICOM), the Honourable Dr Denzil Douglas, during a one-day Prime Ministerial Mission to that CARICOM Member State, on Wednesday 18 October.
(CARICOM Secretariat, Turkeyen, Greater Georgetown, Guyana) Chair of the Caribbean Commission on Health and Development (CCHD), Sir George Alleyne has issued a plea to CARICOM Governments to treat with urgency the preponderance of Non-Communicable Diseases (NCDs) and their mortal effects on the people of the Caribbean.
