(CARICOM Secretariat, Turkeyen, Greater Georgetown, Guyana) Caribbean Community (CARICOM) Secretary-General, His Excellency Edwin Carrington, has extended congratulations to St. Vincent and the Grenadines, on the occasion of the country’s 30th Anniversary of Independence, 27 October 2009.

The country gained independence in 1979. It joined the Community on 1 May, 1974.

(CARICOM Secretariat, Turkeyen, Greater Georgetown, Guyana) Member States of the Caribbean Community (CARICOM) are expecting the first shipment of the HINI vaccine to arrive in the region late November, as they prepare for further attacks from the H1N1 Virus otherwise known as, the swine flu.

The vaccine will provide immunisation for the Community’s most vulnerable groups - children, pregnant mothers, persons suffering from Chronic Non-Communicable Diseases and young people - against an anticipated second attack of the H1N1 virus.

(CARICOM Secretariat, Turkeyen, Greater Georgetown, Guyana) With eight hundred thousand large and small farmers out of a population of nine million Haiti is said to have a vibrant agriculture sector. However among the longstanding challenges facing the sector is slow pace of information flow between policy makers, producers and the public.

In order to overcome this information deficit, officials in this CARICOM Member State’s largest development organization have formed a partnership with two leading radio stations on which they broadcast information on agriculture.
