The Caribbean Community, CARICOM, consists of 15 full member countries with a total population of about 15 million people. There are 5 associate member states with a total population of about 164,000. These populations are of different sizes and are diverse in people, language, skills and levels of development - economic and social . In general, the Caribbean is disadvantaged with respect to their small size and small economies that limit resources and investments.

This paper provides a sound basis for the consideration of trade in environmental services in the CARICOM Single Market and Economy (CSME) Zone. In the absence of specific information and data on the environmental service sector in the CSME, this work is considered as work in progress.
The report is meant to provide a vision for the development of the Caribbean Community to which all stakeholders can give their support. It serves as the basis for decisions by the Heads of Government on a ‘road map’ for the further
implementation of the Caricom Single Market and Economy. It is the product of an extensive process of consultation with regional stakeholders and with the relevant organs of the Community over the past two years.

This is based on the findings of studies commissioned by the Caribbean Community (CARICOM) Secretariat. The five core CSME regimes are functioning but not at the level of effectiveness contemplated by the Community. The studies were carried out over the last three years.

(CARICOM Secretariat, Turkeyen, Greater Georgetown, Guyana) As the first Anniversary of the catastrophic earthquake which rocked Haiti on 12 January 2010 looms, the Caribbean Community (CARICOM) is continuing its steady and multi-pronged support to this Member State.
Service providers may also move to establish businesses under the Companies Act or the Registration of Business Names Act. The procedure in those cases would be the same as those applying to the establishment of business for the provision of goods by a Company.
The Caribbean Community Secretariat is moving full speed ahead to put in place the necessary procedures to enable additional Member States to issue the Caribbean Vocational Qualifications (CVQ) in 2011.
To date, only three Member States of the 15-member grouping can issue the CVQ.
