I wish to join the First Lady of Haiti, Madam Sophia Martelly, in bidding you a warm welcome BIENVENUE!. Indeed, it is a pleasure to have so many of you for the first time in Haiti under the PANCAP umbrella.

(CARICOM Secretariat, Turkeyen, Greater Georgetown, Guyana) Ambassador Irwin LaRocque, Secretary-General of the Caribbean Community (CARICOM) has extended sympathy to the government and people of Haiti following the death of former Prime Minister, the Honourable Georges Jean-Jacques Smarck Michel.

The Secretary-General said that the former Prime Minister would be remembered for his efforts to boost Haiti’s economy and for his contribution to the wellbeing of the people of Haiti.

In a message of condolence on the passing of a stalwart in the Region’s communication sector, Secretary-General LaRocque also referred to Mr. Cholmondeley’s service to the wider global community in the areas of conflict resolution and good governance.
