(CARICOM Secretariat, Turkeyen, Greater Georgetown, Guyana) Caribbean countries are well poised to respond to the challenges in sustaining the HIV response in the Region.

This was the key message of Ms. Juliette Bynoe-Sutherland, Director, Pan Caribbean Partnership Against HIV and AIDS (PANCAP) who was at the time addressing a session on the sustainability of the Caribbean Region’s HIV response at the XII International AIDS Conference (IAC). The IAC is being held from 22-27 July 2012 in Washington, DC, USA.

The campaign aims to generate more compassion and respect for individuals living with HIV.

(CARICOM Secretariat, Turkeyen, Greater Georgetown, Guyana) His Excellency, Anthony Liverpool, Director-General of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs, Antigua and Barbuda, this morning, applauded Japan for being one of the few countries to date, which have provided their full pledge to Haiti.

Japan, he stated, had pledged and delivered the sum of US$100- million to the Haiti reconstruction programme, after that country was hit by a major earthquake in January 2010.
