It is a great pleasure for me, as Secretary-General of the Caribbean Community, to welcome you all once again to the Headquarters of the Community - your Community.
(CARICOM Secretariat, Turkeyen, Greater Georgetown, Guyana) In spite of the expressed dissatisfaction with the pace of progress to achieve deeper integration, the Community must guard against divergence of opinion leading to diversion from achieving common goals, said H.E. Edwin Carrington, Secretary-General of the Caribbean Community (CARICOM).
(CARICOM Secretariat, Turkeyen, Greater Georgetown Guyana) Officials of Caribbean Community (CARICOM) Institutions attending the first set of sectoral cluster workshops prior to a forum with H.E. Edwin Carrington, Secretary-General of CARICOM at the CARICOM Secretariat, have called for greater levels of interaction among stakeholders to address the use of natural resources and climate change, especially energy, water and land.

(CARICOM Secretariat, Turkeyen, Greater Georgetown, Guyana) The inaugural (Caribbean Festival of Arts) CARIFESTA X Child Art Competition was launched in Guyana on 16 July 2008 at the Umana Yana with an exhibition that exemplified the meaningful contribution young people could make to the visual arts in future CARIFESTAs.
In his remarks, Minister of Culture, Youth and Sport, Hon. Dr. Frank Anthony said that the aim of the activity was to create a space for the youth to actively participate in CARIFESTA X.
(CARICOM Secretariat, Turkeyen, Greater Georgetown, Guyana) Friday, 13 July 2007 will live on in our memory at the CARICOM Secretariat as a very dark day. That was the day when a light in our lives went out. Yvonne Holder, our dear colleague and friend, was a most vibrant and beautiful figure, synonymous with light, with calm, with serenity, and with optimism. She brought a positive aura into any group or event. Her smile was ever present, ever infectious. Today, one week after that fateful day, I find it difficult, almost incongruous, to refer to her in the past tense.
CARICOM Secretariat, Turkeyen, Greater Georgetown, Guyana) The Caribbean Community (CARICOM) has extended congratulations and best wishes to H.E. Mr. Nelson R. Mandela, former President of South Africa, who celebrated his ninetieth birthday on 18 July 2008.
The congratulatory message was extended to the former President, by the Hon. Baldwin W. Spencer, Prime Minister of Antigua and Barbuda and Chairman of the Conference of Heads of Government of CARICOM.
