CARICOM Secretariat, Turkeyen, Greater Georgetown, Guyana) A number of strategies geared to increase awareness, training and the capacity strengthening of several communities within one of Guyana’s remote regions have been mapped out by Caribbean Community (CARICOM) Youth Ambassadors (CYAs) during their recent trip to the Iwokrama Conservation and Development Reserve.

(CARICOM Secretariat, Turkeyen, Greater Georgetown, Guyana) A group of Caribbean Community (CARICOM) Youth Ambassadors (CYA)are presently in Guyana working with their peers from across the Region to develop strategies to fight against HIV/AIDS. This they are doing while at the same time observing Guyana’s biodiversity, by journeying to the central part of the country for a three-day visit to the one million acreage Iwokrama Rainforest Conservation and Development reserve.

(CARICOM Secretariat, Turkeyen, Greater Georgetown, Guyana) Heads of Government of the Caribbean Community and Cuba meet in Bridgetown, Barbados, on 8 December for their second Summit meeting in three years.

This meeting is in consonance with the Havana Declaration which was signed at the first Summit in Havana in 2002, on the 30th anniversary of the establishment of diplomatic relations between the four CARICOM countries which were independent at that time - Barbados, Guyana, Jamaica and Trinidad and Tobago - and Cuba.

(CARICOM Secretariat, Turkeyen, Greater Georgetown, Guyana)The Caribbean Community (CARICOM) has been invited by the Government of St Vincent and the Grenadines to monitor the preparations for the General Elections and to observe the conduct of the Elections on 7 December 2005.

The Observer Mission which was appointed by CARICOM Secretary-General Mr. Edwin Carrington will be led by His Excellency Philip Smith, High Commissioner of The Bahamas to Canada. The other members of the Mission include Mr. Eugene G.

(CARICOM Secretariat, Georgetown, Guyana)CARICOM Secretary-General, His Excellency Edwin Carrington today joined the rest of the Caribbean Community in extending warm congratulations to the Captain and players of the Trinidad and Tobago National Football team on the occasion of their success in qualifying for the World Cup Finals to be held in Germany next summer.

(CARICOM Secretariat, Georgetown, Guyana) St. Kitts and Nevis today became the third Caribbean Community (CARICOM) Member State to bring the CARICOM Passport into operation, making good on its promise to launch it before the end of the year. The Ministry of Foreign Affairs in St. Kitts and Nevis said it launched its CARICOM Passport today and Issuance of the document to citizens of that country will begin on 14 November. On 7 January this year, Suriname was the first Member State to begin using the CARICOM Passport, followed by St. Vincent and the Grenadines.
