BASSETERRE, St. Kitts, CMC – The International Monetary Fund (IMF) Tuesday revised downwards the estimate of economic growth for 2012 in St. Kitts and Nevis.
An IMF delegation, which has ended a one week visit to the island, downgraded the growth from minus 0.7 to minus 0.9 percent, reflecting a decline in tourism in the third quarter.

BASSETERRE, St. Kitts, CMC – Deputy Prime Minister Sam Condor continued his public spat with Prime Minister Dr. Denzil Douglas by publicly opposing his decision to dismiss senior government minister Dr. Timothy Harris over the weekend.
In a statement, Condor, who has sided with Harris on opposition a number of government measures and policies in the past, said he found “no justification in the reasons postulated by the Hon. Prime Minister for the dismissal of Dr. the Hon. Timothy Harris”.

BASSETERRE, St Kitts, CMC – Prime Minister Dr. Denzil Douglas says his administration will cooperate with the newly appointed Premier of Nevis, Vance Amory as he congratulated the Concerned Citizens Movement (CCM) on its victory in Tuesday’s Nevis Island Administration (NIA) election. “I once again extend warmest congratulations to you on the recent victory of the Concerned Citizens Movement. CHARLESTOWN, Nevis, CMC – Premier Joseph Parry says his ruling Nevis Reformation Party (NRP) will win four of the five seats at stake in Tuesday’s Nevis Island Administration( NIA) even as his challenger, the Concerned Citizens Movement, (CCM) said it too was confident of taking control of the legislative body.
“We are satisfied that we have taken the national debate to the nation and there are five seats being contested and I expect to take four seats comfortably,” Parry told the Caribbean Media Corporation (CMC).

In response to that invitation, a four member delegation, under the leadership of Chief of Mission, Ms. Pauline Welsh, Director of Legal Affairs, Development and Research, Electoral Office of Jamaica, has arrived to observe the conduct of the taking of the poll.
