A literary workshop, at which participants are expected to be exposed to  enhanced writing skills, is set to get underway on Monday, April 9, 2001 at the Hotel Tower, Georgetown.

The workshop, which is being conducted by young, successful Caribbean author, Colin Channer, one of the contemporary voices writing in the regional idiom, falls under the aegis of the Faculty of Arts of the University of Guyana (UG), in collaboration with Caribbean Fellowship Inc. It will be guided by the theme "Writing the warm easy and easy way".

Judging for the Caribbean Community (CARICOM) Book-Cover Design Competition took place on Wednesday, April, 4, 2001 at the Hotel Normandie, Port-of- Spain, Trinidad and Tobago.

In early April, Guyana's writing enthusiasts and hopefuls will have the opportunity to participate in a special workshop to further hone their literary skills and energies.

Scheduled for April 9-10, 2001, young, successful Caribbean author, Colin Channer, truly one of the voices of now, will be conducting a workshop under the theme "Writing the warm easy and easy way". The workshop will be conducted under the auspices of the Faculty of Arts of the University of Guyana (UG).

I have today received the report of the Chief and Deputy Chief of the CARICOM Electoral Observer Mission to the General Elections in Guyana, on 19 March 2001.

The Mission was established by the Caribbean Community (CARICOM), following a request by the President of Guyana that CARICOM monitor the General and Regional elections in that country, which were being held in accordance with agreements reached under the Herdmanston Accord.

The first meeting of the Joint Caribbean Community (CARICOM)/Canada Working Group to prepare for the negotiations on enhanced trade arrangements was held on 15 March 2001 at the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and Foreign Trade, Kingston, Jamaica. This follows the decision of the Heads of Government of CARICOM and Canada at their Summit in Montego Bay, Jamaica, in January 2001, to begin exploratory work on a more mature trade relationship between CARICOM and Canada.

Secretary-General of the Caribbean Community (CARICOM), Mr. Edwin W. Carrington, heads a three-member delegation to the Inter-Governmental Organisations Meeting which opens on Thursday 22 March, 2001 at the Commonwealth Secretariat in London.
