On behalf of the Caribbean Community (CARICOM), I extend (from Belize where I am currently on mission with a Caricom Secretariat team), warmest congratulations to Captain Jimmy Adams and his team for the outstanding West Indies victory over Pakistan in the third and final Test Match in Antigua.
That the victory clinched the Test Series makes it all the more remarkable.
As Caribbean citizens rally around West Indies Cricket, an all-inclusive team of enthusiasts from around the Region will meet for two days in Bridgetown, Barbados, on 1-2 June, 2000, to set a new framework for reclaiming the pride and glory of the regional sport.

Among the critical areas being addressed is the implementation of Protocol VII in which case the Community Council of Ministers will be defining a way forward. They will also look at the future of the Caribbean Forum of African, Caribbean and Pacific States (CARIFORUM) and review the progress being made towards the establishment of the Caribbean Court of Justice (CCJ).
Caribbean Youth will be contributing to the regional agenda for the way forward for the development of the region. The intention is for them to participate in the decision-making process of the Caribbean Community; as well as providing an informed perspective and recommendations to the United Nations Children's Fund (UNICEF) programme on Children and Social Policy in the Americas. Additionally, they will promote an understanding and appreciation of a holistic youth development within the framework of the Commonwealth Youth Programme as it relates to Caribbean Youth.
