On behalf of the Caribbean Community (CARICOM), I extend (from Belize where I am currently on mission with a Caricom Secretariat team), warmest congratulations to Captain Jimmy Adams and his team for the outstanding West Indies victory over Pakistan in the third and final Test Match in Antigua.

That the victory clinched the Test Series makes it all the more remarkable.

CARICOM Secretariat, Georgetown, Guyana)  The Caribbean Community (CARICOM) is engaged in an all out effort to complete the institutional framework to take forward the regional integration process. Among the critical areas being addressed is the implementation of Protocol VII in which case the Community Council of Ministers will be defining a way forward. They will also look at the future of the Caribbean Forum of African, Caribbean and Pacific States (CARIFORUM) and review the progress being made towards the establishment of the Caribbean Court of Justice (CCJ).

Caribbean Youth will be contributing to the regional agenda for the way forward for the development of the region. The intention is for them to participate in the decision-making process of the Caribbean Community; as well as providing an informed perspective and recommendations to the United Nations Children's Fund (UNICEF) programme on Children and Social Policy in the Americas. Additionally, they will promote an understanding and appreciation of a holistic youth development within the framework of the Commonwealth Youth Programme as it relates to Caribbean Youth.

Chair person of the CARIFESTA Marketing and Promotions Committee Christine Walwyn says she expects that "vibrations" from the successful "Taste of CARIFESTA" event to be a catalyst that will launch the Caribbean and the world into ten days of a cultural extravaganza called CARIFESTA.
